Alavie Interventional Pain Management is Hiring a Part Time Medical Assistant (1 day a week and PRN) Near Kerrville, TX

Our Pain Management practice is seeking a motivated, reliable, mature, courteous individual for our open Medical Assistant position. It is a fast paced office so the position requires MA to act as both receptionist and MA . We are looking for someone with experience and the ability to work efficiently in ALL areas of a busy medical office. You will be working alongside our clinics Physician Assistant and/or Physician, checking patients into clinic, collecting paperwork and copays, scanning in documents, working with surgery center to schedule patients for procedures and triaging patients. Must be self motivated to get ahead and enthusiastic and well organized in day to day tasks. 2 professional references are REQUIRED and MUST pass background check.

Hours are:

3 Thursdays a month from 8am-4pm and an occasional Tuesday.

Essential Functions::

  • Check patients in for appointment and collect any necessary copayments and paperwork
  • Upload patient documents to patients chart
  • Chart in real-time as the provider assesses and examines the patient
  • Triage patient and document the history, physical exam, assessment and plan, results, procedures, treatment, and physician consultations
  • Record provider-dictated diagnoses, prescriptions and instructions for patient follow-up
  • Locate and obtain past medical histories, previous charts, past results and studies
  • Transcribe ancillary test results and their interpretations
  • Check on the progress of labs, imaging studies, and other patient data
  • Retrieve and display current and past EKGs and imaging films (e.g. X-rays) for the provider to review and record provider’s interpretation
  • Understand basic ICD-10 documentation requirements
  • Comply with all national and local PHI laws including in HIPAA and HITECH
  • Comply with all facility, department, company policies and procedures
  • Perform a variety of other non-clinical tasks specific to the local facility
  • Job Knowledge:
  • HS diploma or GED preferred
  • Knowledge of computer systems and applications.
  • Skill in planning, organizing, and supervising.
  • Ability to set priorities among multiple requests.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Candidate must have a typing speed of 50 WPM
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Physical / Mental Requirements:
  • Requires sitting and standing associated with an office environment.
  • Must be comfortable walking around office and standing on feet for 7 hours a day
  • Use of computer requires daily repetitive hand and wrist motions.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8 – 16 per week
